Who are the VYFWBP?

We are a friendly community group, run by parents, who meet every Thursday morning in West Bank Park, York. Whatever the weather, school hols included, we spend a couple of hours in the woods and meadows of the Park, doing nature games and crafts, building or making things with materials we find, telling stories and singing songs.

We are open to all - with a contribution of £1 a family (to cover basic equipment) - so if you want to join us, see you on Thursday at 10am at the statue of Queen Victoria, at the top of the Rose Walk. (Bring something simple to share at snack time.)

Our Christmas Park celebrations were a mixed bag of joy and sadness. The children had a wonderful time tying Christmas wreaths and following a trail of hand made decorations leading to an actual Christmas tree that Tanya had set up in the woods as a special surprise. They loved diving into cakes and crafts at our Park party in Holgate Methodist Church Hall - but we also had to say a proper goodbye to lovely Catherine.
There were quite a few tears - especially when Tanya revealed her exquisite present for Catherine: a montage of photos and images from many golden days of story telling under the trees.

But we move on. So far, despite gloomy skies and spatters of rain we have had bumper numbers at our Thursday group and lots of lovely new faces. With special guests and events a plenty and our rota of parent helpers now booked until July, I think we're going to do ok. Miss you though Cath. xxxx

We sometimes bow to her before we set off into the woods!
